Topic: THE INCREDIBLE POWER OF THE MIND
Text: ROMANS 12:2
Memory Verse: PHILIPPIANS 2:5
Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus:(KJV)
Introduction
In one of our previous discussions, we got to understand that the soul is composed of the mind, the will and the emotions. Today, in a bid to deeply understand the soul, we focus on the Mind.
The power the mind wields is incontestably incredible - it controls the cognition of man: the power of thinking; the power of understanding, the power of learning and even that of remembering. Titus 1:15 underscores the radiating powers of the mind, Pure or corrupt.
Discussion – “Be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind” – Transformation is a function of a renewed mind. That a man is exceptional in discernment and judgement is ordinarily credited to the powers of such mind. Like the scripture told us about sound mind 2 Timothy 1:7. The difference between the rich and poor, between Mr A and Mr B is the state of their mind. The difference between a flourishing business life, academic life, spiritual life, marital life and its opposite is the state of the mind behind. Apostle Paul in 1Corinthians 2:2 declared “For I determined not to know any thing among you, save Jesus Christ, and him crucified.” HE SET HIS MIND on the things above, that he may know Him and the power of His resurrection... these actuated the remarkable transformation of Paul. Your present state is a statement of your mind. What you will be tomorrow is a direct result of the renewals of your mind.
Proverbs 23:7
For as he thinketh in his heart, so [is] he: Eat and drink, saith he to thee; but his heart [is] not with thee.
Whatever you hold in your MIND will tend to occur in your life. If you continue to believe as you have always believed, you will continue to act as you have always acted. If you continue to act as you have always acted, you will continue to get what you have always got. If you want different results in life, what you MUST do is CHANGE YOUR MIND. The key to any kind of improvement in life is in the mind; the mind controls the action, this is how powerful the mind is.
Conclusion
The recommended mind of Christ is a mind of humility, submission, innovation, obedience etc.
1 Corinthians 2:16
For who hath known the mind of the Lord, that he may instruct him? But we have the mind of Christ.
Knowing and having the mind of Christ must be the priority of Christians who longs to succeed here on earth. Thus, we must let the mind of the master be the master of our mind.
